In a major initiative to revolutionize grassroots sports infrastructure, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal have unveiled an ambitious ₹1,194 crore project to construct 3,100 new stadiums across the state. The announcement was made at Kaljharani village near Bathinda, where the foundation stone was laid for the first phase of the project.

In the first phase, larger villages will be prioritized, with stadiums covering areas ranging from half an acre to four acres, depending on local needs and available land.

The Chief Minister highlighted Punjab’s proud sporting legacy —
“Four captains of the Indian cricket team are from Punjab, and nine players represent India in hockey,” said Mann.
Additionally, the government has appointed 300 new coaches and granted ₹8 lakh each to athletes training for international competitions.
