September has arrived with a fresh batch of games for Xbox players, with five new titles launching on September 1, 2026. The lineup includes the highly anticipated Shelldiver, which is joining Xbox Game Pass on day one, alongside several smaller releases offering everything from supernatural action to stealth adventure and platforming.
The new releases give Xbox players an early taste of what is shaping up to be a busy September, with major games such as The Blood of Dawnwalker, Onimusha: Way of the Sword and NBA 2K27 also scheduled to arrive later this week.
Shelldiver joins Xbox Game Pass
The biggest addition today is Shelldiver, which launches directly into Xbox Game Pass. The game is available through Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass, and supports Xbox Play Anywhere.
Shelldiver puts players in control of a turtle exploring an underwater world while attempting to build a business selling jellyfish. Rather than being a traditional action-heavy adventure, the game focuses on incremental progression, exploration and upgrading equipment.
Players can explore different ocean environments, collect resources and gradually improve their operation. Its relaxed atmosphere makes it a very different experience from many of the larger action games arriving on Xbox this month.

Crimson Moon brings supernatural action
Another major release today is Crimson Moon, an action RPG focused on fast-paced supernatural combat.
Players take on the role of a Nephilim, a human-angel hybrid created to protect humanity. The game features intense melee combat, powerful supernatural abilities and challenging bosses. It can be played alone or cooperatively with another player.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game arrives
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is another notable release in the September lineup.

Dr. Atominus explores the fourth dimension
The fifth release is Dr. Atominus, a short science-fiction platformer with Metroidvania elements.
The game takes players into a strange fourth-dimensional setting where exploration and acquiring new abilities are central to progression. As players move through the environment, they gain abilities that allow them to access previously unreachable areas.
The game also features a science-fiction storyline and choices that can affect how the adventure develops.
