Fortnite’s x South Park Crossover Welcomes Five-Player Mode and Skins plus Cartmanland POI

Fortnite is ringing in 2026 with one of its most audacious TV crossovers yet, partnering with the iconic South Park animated series for a limited‑time event that introduces a new five-player “Quints” mode, themed skins, an all-new POI and mythic Stick of Truth item. The collaboration will be activated on 9th of January,2026 under version v39. 20 update and continue until Feb. 5.

Quints mode introduces five-player squads

The headline new gameplay addition is actually “Quints,” a squads playlist that lets teams of five play together as opposed to the traditional four, which is shaping up to be one of the biggest structural experiments in Fortnite’s competitive meta yet. Well, Epic has confirmed that Quints is coming to the game as a limited‑time mode for the length of South Park’s stay in town, with how well it goes down with players perhaps determining if we see larger squad sizes in longer standing playlists at some point afterward.

In the trailer, the feature also gets announced in authentic South Park manner: Cartman, Stan, Kyle and Kenny abandon Butters to his fate in a lobby after he “lowkey sucks” at Fortnite, but then Butters — in his Professor Chaos persona — uses The Stick of Truth to transform the town’s school bus into a Battle Bus; hooking it and dragging everyone down onto Fortnite island until they add him as the fifth member of their squad. The update will be made live after a short maintenance window and is coming on all platforms.

Mech suits come with South Park skins

South Park

Full cosmetic sets for the primary South Park cast: Eric Cartman, Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Kenny McCormick and Butters Stotch are included as well. As the show’s characters are short and stylised, Epic has re-fashioned them in mech‑style suits so that they conform to Fortnite’s default hitboxes and animation rigging – a method employed on earlier cartoon collaborations.

There won’t be a full blown battle pass, but players will most likely have the oppurtunity to purchase bundles containing a glider, back bling and pickaxe. Rumours say that Kenny will have a responsive “death” effect where he graphically shatters or even respawns upon player elimination, in reference to how often things go poorly for our favourite unlucky kid on the show.

There’s the sidekick/companion cosmetic for Towelie as well, though we assume Epic will scale back some of the character’s more explicit characteristics to keep the game age appropriate.

Cartmanland POI and Stick of Truth mythic

The refresh will introduce a new point of interest called Cartmanland, after the “South Park” character’s ill-fated theme park from the show, complete with some Easter eggs for long‑time fans. It will be a central hot spot of combat in the game during the event, creating another way that earlier crossovers have riffed on map locations to containing limited‑time content.

On the island, a second mythic‑tier weapon, the Stick of Truth, will be added to scavenge and use. Full stats are yet to be revealed but Epic has teased these Battle Pass skins will have unique powers, “similar to the South Park – fantasy role‑playing episodes”.

Epic is linking the event to a “Born in Chaos” mini pass that comes with its own track of 13 South Park‑themed cosmetics — 13 may also refer to something else from South Park, we guess — including wraps, sprays and other minor goodies. Unlike previously mini passes which players had to pay for, Born in Chaos will be free, and players can earn rewards through in‑game progression within the window of the event.

The default skins for the main characters except for Cartman, Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Butters will also be a part of the free pass but these can be bought from shop as well. It’s this bifurcation that allows casuals to unlock thematic content, rewarding them with bundles of premium clothes and gear to chase.

Fortnite’s aggressive TV crossover strategy Fortniting is already a common meme on the internet, but it also seemed that most of those people watching had no idea what they were about to let themselves in for.

The South Park event also follows hot on the heels of a wildly popular Simpsons mini‑season, and is another expression of the insatiable desire Fortnite has shown to wield major TV and film IPs — from Kill Bill, Kim Kardashian, Percy Jackson — as part of its strategy to keep its live-service ecosystem culturally fresh. The analysts point out that these crossovers are key drivers of both the concurrent player count and cosmetic sales, particularly when combined with new gameplay hooks such as Quints.

For Indian players and worldwide fans, the collab merges South Park’s cut‑out comedy with Fortnite’s battle-royale craziness, providing a novel excuse to drop back onto the island at the beginning of a new year. And with Quints living until February 5 and Cartmanland stuffed with secrets, the event stands to be one of Chapter 7’s first big hits.
